T.Eipeldauer@akbild.ac.at und M.Kreinecker@akbild.ac.at
CLINCH: from the collaborative conception, design, and implementation of a small-edition artist's book with original graphics on the theme of “notes.” Embedded in a content-related and discursive examination of self-publishing, art books, editions, multiples, and archives, we invite guest lecturers (Sarah Bogner, Harpune; Nina Prader, Lady Liberty Press) throughout the semester to contextualize the course and production within the current discourse. In addition, creative writing exercises (with Jakob Krameritsch, IKW) within the framework of the semester theme “Notes” will be helpful in sharpening the handling of text and image. The format and form of CLINCH is already predetermined. In addition to a joint section, for which the form can be redefined in each issue, students will work on their own designs for a foldable leporello. This will be implemented on the students' own initiative and in collaboration with the screen printing workshop and during the three-day excursion (deductible €100 including accommodation, train, use of the workshop; excluding meals) to the Druckwerk Lustenau printing workshop (Vorarlberg). In addition to the collective and collaborative work experience, the technical (screen printing, bookbinding, copy machine/zine making, etc.) and organizational skills learned individually by the students can be transferred to their own practice and further developed. Registration exclusively by email with an overview of 3-4 works and a short text expressing interest in participating and, if possible, relating one's own practice to printmaking, editions, multiples, and self-publishing: T.Eipeldauer@akbild.ac.at and M.Kreinecker@akbild.ac.at The workload required of students to produce CLINCH in an edition of 25 pieces at the end of the semester is high. Therefore, registration only makes sense if you are able to attend most of the classes and the excursion.
