In der Berufspraxis als Künstler_in bedarf es neben der künstlerischen Arbeit zunehmend auch praktischer Kompetenzen.
Der Workshop vermittelt den Teilnehmenden grundlegende Kenntnisse und praktische Fähigkeiten, die für den Aufbau einer professionellen künstlerischen Praxis und eine spätere Selbständigkeit von Bedeutung sind. Im Fokus stehen unter anderem die Erstellung und Strukturierung eines Portfolios, das Verfassen eines Artist Statements, Grundlagen des Förderwesens und der Budgetplanung, die Zusammenarbeit mit Galerien sowie Aspekte der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit für Künstler_innen.
Die Inhalte werden anhand theoretischer Inputs und praxisnaher Beispiele aus der beruflichen Erfahrung der Lektorin und universitätsexternen Gastvortragenden vermittelt. Im Rahmen des Workshops besteht zudem die Möglichkeit, eigene Arbeitsunterlagen individuell oder in Kleingruppen zu analysieren und weiterzuentwickeln.

In professional artistic practice, artists increasingly require practical skills alongside their artistic work. This workshop provides participants with fundamental knowledge and practical skills that are essential for building a professional artistic practice and for future self-employment as an artist. The focus includes, among other topics, the creation and structuring of a portfolio, writing an artist statement, basic knowledge of funding systems and budget planning, collaboration with galleries, and aspects of public relations for artists. The content is conveyed through theoretical input and practice-oriented examples drawn from the professional experience of the lecturer and external guest speakers. The workshop also offers participants the opportunity to analyse and further develop their own working materials, either individually or in small groups.
