The course ‘School as a System’ (BiWi 3.1) provides an introduction to historical, school-education-related and current debates, with a view to societal, legal and education-policy conditions, in order to understand school as a system. Current challenges within and surrounding schools are examined from a structural perspective, and knowledge-based scope for action within schools is opened up. In the proseminar, students therefore engage with (educational) research analyses of key questions concerning school as an educational institution, as well as with foundational documents (curricula, cross-curricular themes, examination regulations etc.) and profession-related tasks (assessment, counselling, school development, quality management etc.), and discuss them together.
