Montage and Collage: An introductory lecture on montage as a practice of critical inquiry—specifically, the revealing of contexts of origin as a means of simultaneous construction and deconstruction. It examines montage techniques from Modernism, Constructivism, and Dadaism, as well as their application in the subversive practices of Situationism and various forms of pop culture. These precursors to design-based montage techniques are traced through to contemporary "copy-and-paste" practices in the age of digitalization and artificial intelligence.
