Im Mittelpunkt des Seminars steht Sara Ahmeds wegweisendes Buch *The Cultural Politics of Emotion*, das sowohl eine Einführung in die Sozialphilosophie als auch in die Emotionstheorie darstellt
Im Seminar werden wir Sara Ahmeds Buch genau lesen und diskutieren, aber je nach Interesse der Teilnehmenden auch Auszüge aus anderen Theorien der Emotionen und Affekte, die in Ahmeds Buch eine herausragende Rolle spielen (wie z. B. Descartes, Spinoza, L. Berlant, J. Butler, B. Massumi, um nur einige zu nennen). Neben der Auseinandersetzung mit Ahmeds Text und dessen eigener Emotionalität werden wir auch Lesetechniken diskutieren und damit experimentieren.

A reading seminar The seminar centres on Sara Ahmed’s seminal book *The Cultural Politics of Emotion*, which serves as both an introduction to social philosophy and the theory of emotions. In the seminar we will closely read and discuss Ahmed’s book but also, depending on the interests of the participants, excerpts of other theories of emotions that figure prominently in Ahmed’s book (like e.g. Descartes, Spinoza, L. Berlant, J. Butler, B. Massumi, to name just a few.) Apart from discussing Ahmed’s text and its emotionality we will also debate and experiment with reading techniques.
